COLOSSIANS 3:14-17 – TOGETHER!
Remember the Lone Ranger? The ironic thing about the Lone Ranger was that he was hardly ever alone! Tonto was with him most of the time!
We as Christians tend to be “Lone Rangers”. We treat the practicing of our faith a private thing, not to be shared with many and sometimes we don’t share with any!
Although each of us is responsible to have our own faith and live out our own faith, our Lord knew it was not healthy for us to go it alone! That’s why he gives us our brothers and sisters in our local church. The local church is not optional! The local church is where you are known, and know others.
Introduction – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Make sure you belong!
- Are you a sinner? Are you aware that you have failed God, and stand guilty before Him?
- Are you aware that God loves you enough to send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to pay for your sins so your guilty verdict can be reversed?
- Are you aware that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and is alive right now.
- Are you aware of God’s offer of forgiveness? Have you accepted God’s gift of forgiveness? Romans 10:9-10
- If you have, are you aware that you are part of a wonderful family, the Family of God? John 1:12
- Are you aware that you have an obligation as a family member to interact with other family members is a local church?
- Colossians 3:14-17 shows us four things, we as a church, should do individually, and together!
TOGETHER, WE SHOULD:
Let the Love of Christ Unite Us. Vs. 14
Colossians 3:14 (ESV) - And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
TOGETHER, WE SHOULD:
Let the Peace of Christ Reign over Us. Vs. 15
“The closer believers are to Christ (and His likeness), the closer they are to each other.” Bible Knowledge Commentary
The peace of Christ, our Lord, is the arbiter, the umpire, the referee. We are to be thankful.
TOGETHER, WE SHOULD:
Let the Word of Christ Indwell Us. Vs. 16
Should the Word of God indwell the Pastor and Deacons, and their wives?
Should the Word of Christ indwell you brothers and sisters around you?
Should the Word of Christ indwell you? It’s the way you can encourage others.

Let the Authority of Christ Empower Us. Vs. 17
