SERMON SEEDS ARCHIVES

JOHN

Through no fault of our own, about 5 years of Sermon Seeds was deleted from the Website of the First Baptist Church.

We decided that it was time to begin archiving them in a different way.

Please be patient as we gradually archive these outlines.

JOHN 3:16-21 – GOD’S GREAT GIFT

THE PRESENT – Vs. 16 – Everlasting life is for those who by faith accept God’s free gift of salvation.

THE PURPOSE – Vs. 17 – Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through His sacrificial death on The Cross. Romans 5:1, 6-9

THE PROBLEM – Vs. 18 – Although the one who believes is not condemned, the one who does not believe is condemned.

THE PROCEDURE OF THE CONDEMNED – Vss. 19-21

     lest they be reproved.

THE PRACTICE OF THE TRUTH – Vs. 22 – The one who practices truth is the one who has come to the light through acceptance of the free gift of salvation. His life has been changed and his deeds will show it! 2 Corinthians 5:17,

JOHN 4:4 – SAMARIA

There are times in our lives when we face difficult conditions, work through difficult situations, and deal with difficult people.  These do not appear to be the most pleasant of times. Our Lord faced a real challenge when "...he must needs go through Samaria."  Like Jesus, we will face our own "Samarias".

SAMARIA WAS A LAND OF OPPOSITION

Samaria was at one time a part of Israel (Samaria). When Assyria conquered Israel, it deported everyone but the poor of the land. Then Assyria brought other people from other lands into Samaria. These people half learned the customs of the Jews, and intermarried with the Jews who remained. The Samaritans had a form of religion similar to the Jews, but it was not the Jewish religion.  The Jews and Samaritans hated each other. See John 4:9

There will be times when we as Christians will face all sorts of opposition as we strive to do the will of God. 2 Timothy 3:12, James 1:2-4.

SAMARIA WAS A LAND OF OBEDIENCE

Jesus had to go through Samaria because this is where God the Father wanted Him to go.

We must remember that some our toughest times will come as we strive to live obediently. 1 Samuel 15:22-23, John 14:15.

SAMARIA WAS A LAND OF OPPORTUNITY

Jesus won the Woman at the well and other Samaritans to Himself.

Without facing opposition and being obedient, He would not have had these opportunities. See the rest of the chapter for details.

Our opportunities to bless other Christians and to win the unsaved to Christ will come as we face our Samarias through opposition and in obedience.

JOHN 20:11-18 ETC. – DON’T WEEP!

  • People weep on major holidays, as did Mary. John 20:11-13
  • We know why Mary was weeping. Why are you weeping?
  • John 11:14-15 - Jesus appears to Mary, although Mary at first does not realize it.   Jesus asked her “Woman, why are you weeping?”  Notice that Jesus cares when he asks that question.  However, I believe that he is also telling Mary that there is no longer a need to weep.
  • My friend, Jesus cares about what is causing you sorrow and He wants you to tell him when you have sorrows.  He cares enough to listen. Hebrews 4:15-16
  • It is interesting that Jesus turned her weeping into joy with just one word. He spoke her name. Vs. 16
  • This Easter morning, the Lord Jesus wants your sorrow to be turned to joy.  It does not mean that your problems will go away.  But it does mean that we can rejoice despite our circumstances.
  • So, if you are a born-again Christian, if you have trusted Christ as your Savior don’t weep!

DON’T WEEP! HE IS RISEN!

1 Corinthians 15:20, John 11:25-26, Romans 8:14, John 14:19

DON’T WEEP! WE ARE REGENERATED!
